Day 1
Arrive Sydney early morning where you will be transferred by private coach transfer
to the Park Hyatt hotel. Due to your early arrival into Sydney, the rooms have
been pre-registered; so will be available on arrival. Reconvene for a light snack
on the terrace with its amazing harbor views and briefing with Meera Freeman,
your tour leader. Walking tour of the Sydney Botanical Gardens and surrounds
to soak in this historic Sydney precinct. Welcome dinner.
Day 2
At leisure—sleep in, enjoy hotel athletic facilities or take a stroll through
the Rocks area around your hotel. Meet in the hotel lobby for transfer to Tetsuya's
celebrated Japanese restaurant for a leisurely Degustation Dinner with specially
matched wines, looking onto Tetsuya's tranquil Japanese Garden.
Day 3
Take a water taxi for a cruise of Sydney Harbor disembarking at scenic Balmoral
Beach. A short stroll will have you ready for a simple and delicious lunch at
The Bathers Pavilion (chef Serge Dansereau) waterfront restaurant. Visit the
nearby Taronga Park Zoo to view some unusual Australian animals, in a superb
harbor setting. Return to Sydney via Ferry. Dinner at Iceberg's Bar and Cafe,
overlooking Bondi Beach.
Day 4
Early morning tour of the Sydney Fish Market. Afternoon: At leisure. Visit Sydney's
National Gallery or the Sydney Museum. An optional shopping trip to Sydney's
famous Double Bay can be organized. Dinner at Aria (winner of Wine Spectator's
Best Award of Excellence) with its panoramic views of Sydney Harbor taking in
the Harbor Bridge, the Opera House, and the night traffic on the water. Exciting
food by young Sydney chef, Matt Moran - a fitting final night in the harbor city.
Day 5
Private coach to airport for morning transfer to Melbourne. Check into Hotel — Park
Hyatt, a world-class hotel located near some of Melbourne's most beautiful gardens
and a two-minute walk from the city center. Orientation coach tour of Melbourne
shows us the highlights of this elegant city, renowned for its gardens and historic
architecture. Return to hotel to rest before dinner at Pearl restaurant with
chef Geoff Lindsay.
Day 6
Meet in hotel lobby for a coach tour to experience the best of the Bellarine
Peninsula. Visit Angel Cardoso - maker of the most sought after Spanish ham and
salami in Australia. Engage in fascinating talk and tasting. Drive through the
coastal town of Anglesea and see gray kangaroos grazing on the fairways of Anglesea's
famous golf course. Kangaroos will not improve your game but will definitely
make a great story. On the way back we stop for a wine tasting at Scotchman's
Hill Winery, overlooking the ocean on the Bellarine Peninsula.
Day 7
Day at leisure
Day 8
Visit Victoria Market, buy ingredients and stroll back to Meera Freeman’s
cooking school where we will prepare and eat a Vietnamese feast. Afternoon free.
Dinner at MoMo with chef Greg
Malouf—Middle Eastern cuisine with a twist.
Day 9
Fly to King Island, known worldwide for its cheese, cream, rock lobster and giant
crabs. After a tour of the cheese factory, we will lunch beachside at Boomerang.
The menu includes abalone, oysters, lobster, Tasmanian salmon and Tasmanian wines.
We fly home over the spectacular Great Ocean Road and the 12 Apostles. Enjoy
a free evening.
Day 10
Day at leisure to shop or sightsee. Farewell dinner at the Flower Drum, Melbourne's
most awarded restaurant and current Age Good Food Guide “Restaurant of
the Year.” It is considered one of the best Chinese restaurants in the
world and renowned for its fine cuisine and seamless service.
Day 11
Morning departure via private coach to Tullamarine Airport, Melbourne for Los
Angeles. |
